[info_box]FETISHWEEK covers the best BDSM News and most interesting fetish links of the last week.  I am actively accepting news, press releases, personality profiles, and review items for both FETISHWEEK and The Fetish Show.  I am particularly interested in topics related to BDSM/kink/fetish, but also alternative art/photography/modeling, sex, burlesque, fashion, relationships, events and more.  I can get your story out to a much wider audience in a way that is positive and respectful.  Contact me now:   dirk@dirkhooper.com [/info_box]

One of the most rewarding things about compiling these stories for FETISHWEEK is when you run into an article like “Good Pain versus Bad Pain: BDSM and Chronic Pain” by Krissy Novacaine (below in the Fetish Fab Five).  The writer gives us a very personal tale about how BDSM has helped her deal with the pain of fibromyalgia.  I highly recommend reading it.

What you’re not going to get from the mainstream media, or from porn, or from runaway best sellers, is that BDSM can be either physically or mentally healing to some of the players.  Yes, BDSM can also offer very hot sex, but there are many people who encounter something deeper.

I know from experience that the intense relationship between a dominant and a submissive can provide a framework for positive growth for both players.  I’m not suggesting that BDSM is a panacea, but I’ve seen some incredible things happen with my own partners, and I’ve had my own success stories as well.

Ignorant people who condemn BDSM as abusive, demented, or harmful need to read Krissy Novacaine’s article.  The way she has used her kinky relationship to tackle her problem is much more typical than most people think.

What about you?  Have you used BDSM as an alternative way to heal?  Have you seen it work for others?  Tell me your story in my comments below or write me directly at: dirk@dirkhooper.com
