Sex and Metal is a sex-positive company that specializes in handmade metal BDSM gear.  The site offers everything from BDSM jewelry, to impact toys to very elaborate steel furniture.  The pieces are original designs and crafted by hand, so what you get is a one-of-a-kind item.

Sex and Metal sent me a Taiwaz T-Bar Flogger to review.  The feature element of the Taiwaz flogger is the steel T-Bar handle, which was powder coated in candy apple red (and also comes in a clear finish).  The handle terminates in a couple of imposing spikes to hold the leather falls in place. The handle is 5 inches long.  I was struck by how shiny and sturdy this handle is, and yet is much lighter than you would imagine.

There are 40 leather flogger strands on the Taiwaz flogger and they are 22 inches from the base of the handle.  The leather is high-quality and cut straight across the falls.

I’ve never used a flogger with anything like the T-Bar handle before.  I’ve had nearly two decades of experience learning how to wield a standard flogger handle, so the T-Bar was something new to me.  Holding this flogger instantly changes the way you throw the flogger, which is both good and bad.

What I did really like about the action on this flogger was the effortless way that you can throw a crossing pattern with this handle.  The action that I got out of this flogger would have worn out my wrist with a standard flogger.  It’s fun and easy to use and may be appreciated by beginners.  It also strikes me that this T-Bar handle would be good to use with Florentine flogging (that is, using two floggers).

I’ve only tested this flogger a few times, but I don’t experience the accuracy that I get with standard floggers.  I think with time and more experience I could find that accuracy, but if you’re used to throwing standard floggers, there’s going to be a learning curve here.

Given the pattern that you’re going to be throwing and the number of tails with this flogger the effect is part “stingy” and part “thuddy”.  I would put it in the lower mid-range of pain for the target. This is a flogger that is meant to slowly build sensation over time.

If you are new to flogging or you like trying new things then the Taiwaz T-Bar Flogger is ideal for you.  It is a beautifully crafted piece and a unique addition to anyone’s toy bag.

The Taiwaz T-Bar Flogger is available directly from Sex and Metal’s website.

I’d like to thank fetish model Amy Lynn for her help in reviewing this flogger.
