Video: Latex Fetish Nuns Fight Bald Assassin

IO Interactive has released a trailer for Hitman: Absolution that is sure to either thrill or chill everyone.  If you like a little sexy mixed with your violence then you’ll get a kick out of this video.  There are two versions of this video, one released in North America and the other for Europe.  I find it interesting that 1/3 of the viewers for the Europe version are offended that these female assassins are dressed like nuns.  It’s interesting because obviously the North America audience doesn’t seem to be as offended.

In any case, the women in the story are not nuns, they are a fantasy wetwork group called The Saints, and they apparently like wearing latex, high heels and stockings into combat. There was serious controversy with this video which led to some changes within the game. My own opinion is, in any creative endeavor, artists should be left to make their own decisions.  If you don’t like this sort of thing, there are plenty of other entertainment options out there.  I like fetish and I like controversy, so this is right in my wheelhouse.

I’m particularly fascinated with the fetish aspects of this video. This is a trailer for a mass-market video game, and it could have been produced for Skin Two!  If you don’t think that the fetish world is taking over the visual and intellectual space of the conventional world, then you’re not paying attention.

This trailer is grindhouse at its best (or worst, depending on your point of view).
